| Reading around, I see a lot of factors in fan design that I really wasn't taking into account when doing a part replacement. Actually, I was just looking at measured CFM vs noise on SilentPCReview. I picked the best fans for what I was looking at - dBA and CFM target - but without considering how they might behave differently on a radiator. But, running a Corsair H70 with two fans in a push/pull configuration...perhaps I ought to have. At the moment, I have two of these on it: Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120mm Airflow: 63.7 CFM (spec) -> 47 CFM (measured) Noise: 28.0 dBA (spec) -> 31.0 dBA (measured) ...and they are definitely the right volume level I'm looking for, but since raw CFM is not the right metric to look at. I'm looking for higher static pressure, and that probably means 38mm fans (which I certainly do have room for) instead of these 25mm. What other factors should I look at? Any recommendations? Target is about 30 dBA or less, and the goal is best cooling performance in a push/pull configuration on a 120mm radiator (Corsair H70 at the moment).  |
