Nowadays radiators are commonly used in automobiles for cooling internal combustion engines. Although it is likewise used in motorbikes, train engines and power plants. It is necessary to maintain radiators from rust to ensure its optimum functionality. Radiators work by being connected to channels going through the engine and cylinder head, through this liquid is pumped. The liquid is the coolant and is normally water or oil-based.

In some events, a car is required to obtain a secondary radiator. This would ensure that the automobile has ample cooling system to prevent overheating. In the case of sports cars or cars that have turbo, they usually have a small radiator to cool the engine oil.
